We’ve got the brilliant ED GOLD ( DISCO DIVE // CONTROL // PAPER SHIPS ) who just hosted yesterday’s DISCO DIVE with none other than DJ HARVEY himself (write-up shortly) ,who left everyone in attendance absolutely speechless and full of joy, so you can be sure that ED GOLD will be carrying the good vibes over to The Proper Party’s debut.

This guy. Man oh man. Jamie Jones, (mastermind behind Hot Creations label along with partner in crime Lee Foss) has been on a rampage of cool eclectic and top-charting house (deep, tech, & disco) music. In 2009, he had an unbelievable year of releases of his own production/remixes and 2010 was said to be his rise to stardom as a dj, but frankly, I don’t think he’s ever going to slow down.
Here are a couple of my current favorites of his, granted I could seriously list his entire catalog and know that it’s 99% better than most everything out there, but here’s just a few:
“Michael’s Hotel” is a soulful house track with disco grooves while maintaining his classic deep feel to the track as a whole. It’s strengths are a constant but subtle groove as well as a haunting vocal mix that seems to take a minimalist’s approach to a disco vibed-out house tune.
Released on label Hot Creations it could be categorized with the likes of his “Set You Free”(Jamie Jones Edit) which are on Re Rubs Vol. 3 (May 2010) & Re Rubs Vol. 4 (July 2011) respectively.
Jamie Jones’ & Lee Foss’ collaborative effort Hot Natured, has one of my (cult status) favorite releases Equilibrium off the Equilibrium EP released in July 2010 on Los Angeles based label Culprit [run by L.A. local phenom trio Droog (Bio)]. From everything I could find, they seem to be the first ones to really showcase a majority of the Hot Creations, Visionquest, & Crosstown Rebels crews on the west coast with any sort of real spotlight attached (granted Crosstown Rebels have been around since early ‘05).
Anyway, here’s Hot Natured’s track Equilibrium. More to come from all of the above aforementioned artists/labels.

One of my best friend’s turned me on to this about a month ago. I always hear it, freak out (because it’s awesome), let it resonate back and forth in my brain, but then I forget how to spell SBTRKT (Subtract).

Okay, now let’s get back to some good old fashioned disco…or at least what sounds like it.
Rocco Raimundo is the man. He’s groovy, he’s funky and clearly has producer, remixer, and straight disco chops.
Self proclaimed as the prodigal son of funk, he has an uncanny taste for tracks that can only be compared to the selection of Dimitri From Paris (who actually included his Edit of ‘Dreams’ on his mix for BBC Radio 1 back in March. Not too shabby. He seems a bit mysterious as is evident from his rather out-there bio, but you cannot deny that he has nothing but good taste and serious disco talent. Have fun grooving to his mix above and his “reinterpretation” on the new Flight Facilities Foreign Langauge Remixes album which was released on 8/29/2011.

Eats Everything’s “Heard That” was released on Catz ‘N Dogz newish label Pets Recordings which happens to be releasing nothing but good music. With previous releases with the likes of Anabatic, Simma, Nurvous Records, Wearhouse Music (among others), Eats Everything is having nothing short of a phenomenal year with no hints of slowing down. Expect big things. Oh and I’ll no doubt be posting Entrance Song as well which is the title of the two track ep released in July 2011.

Miami Dj and Producer, Jesse Perez, is just straight killing it. He’s got this hip hop/deep house vibe going. It straight gets people moving to old-school hip-hop lyrics to a 125 bpm and with an ep titled “This Hoe Gonna Get Some Dick” you know he’s got nothing but swagger.
This is my personal favorite (I think most will agree) off the EP however it’s just a clip which frankly cuts right to the point.
